Oklahoma High School Football Scores - Week 9

by Jeff Fisher
High School Football America

Shattuck is the new record holder in America for consecutive wins by an 8-Man high school football team. The Indians beat Goodwell Friday night 40-14 to surpass the old record of 90 straight wins by Morrison.

Earlier this week, I spoke with Shattuck head coach Troy Bullard, who worked hard to keep the team focused on keeping the streak in perspective. You can checkout that High School Football America podcast below.

Shattuck Wins 89th Straight

by Jeff Fisher
The High School Football Huddle

Shattuck is one win away from tying Morrison's national 8-man win streak record of 90 straight after Thursday's 48-0 win over Balko.

The Indians can tie the record next week when it plays Sharon-Mutual. The record breaker would then come on October 30th against Goodwell.

Shattuck's current streak began in the 2003 season. Morrison's record-setting win streak was set from 1989 to 1995.

Shattuck Win Streak Changed to 88 Straight

by Jeff Fisher
The High School Football Huddle

The Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association has decided that Shattuck will need two wins to tie the national 8-man record for consecutive wins, not one.

The OSSAA has ruled that a 2003 scheduled game against Yarborough that was cancelled and ruled a forfeit, is no longer a win. That leaves the Indians win streak 88 instead of 89 going into today's game against Balko.

If Shattuck wins today, it will be able to tie the current record of 90 straight wins held by Morrison (OK) when it plays Sharon-Mutual on October 23rd. The record breaker would then come on October 30th against Goodwell.

Shattuck's current streak began in the 2003 season. Morrison's record-setting win streak was set from 1989 to 1995.

Check back later tonight to see if Shattuck is able to pull within one of the record.

Backyard Bowl: Jenks vs. Union

by Jeff Fisher
Oklahoma High School Football Huddle

Since 1996, every Oklahoma 6A high school football championship has been captured by either Jenks or Union. Friday night at Tulsa's Chandler Stadium the two schools, which are just a little over 10-miles apart, will renew the rivalry that you can learn about by watching the above video that was done by NFL Films on America's best high school football rivalries. The documentary aired on Versus.

Union is the defending 6A champ with other titles won in 2002, 2004 and 2005. Jenks has claimed state championships in 1979, 1982, 1993, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2003, 2006 and 2007.

Shattuck Eight Wins Shy of National Consecutive Wins Record

by Jeff Fisher
Oklahoma High School Football Huddle

Thanks to readers of the Oklahoma High School Football Huddle who want to make sure that 8-Man Football gets its props. In response to our story a couple weeks ago about the longest active win streak in 11-Man Football, several readers asked us to make everyone aware that Shattuck enters 2009 on an 83-game win streak, which is seven shy of the all-time record of 90 straight victories. Morrison High, also from Oklahoma, currently holds the record.

Shattuck has won six straight Okahoma Secondary School Activities Association Class C titles.

Oklahoma High School Football Championships Moving Back to OSU?

by Jeff Fisher
Oklahoma High School Football Huddle

All that's standing in the way of the state high school football championships moving back to Stillwater is a vote by the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association. The OSSAA will vote later this year on a proposal that would move the six championship games to Boone Pickens Stadium starting with the 2010 season. Click here to read more.
