Jenks Takes Down #14 Union in Oklahoma Championship Game

Jenks continues to have crosstown rival Union's number when it comes to the Oklahoma big schools' high school football championship.

Jenks beat Union 42-24 Friday night to capture the Oklahoma 6A championship Friday night before 16,723 fans at Tulsa' Chapman Stadium. The title is the ninth for Jenks in twelve seasons under head coach Allan Trimble.

For Union (13-1) fans it was heartbreak again since it was the fourth time in five tries that Jenks has denied the Redskins a state title . It also reversed a regular season 43-42 overtime win by Union in Week 2.

That win knocked Jenks out of the USA Today Super 25. Coming into Friday's game, Union had climbed to #14 in the USA Today rankings.

Jenks was led by running back Chris Adkins who carried the ball 26 times for 229 yards and two touchdowns. Quarterback Mark Ginther produced 202 yards (77 rushing, 125 passing) in total offense and three touchdowns.
